Can PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) cause stomach polyps (FGP's fundic gland polyps) & stomach cancer?

I was taking Nexium / esomeprazole for GERD/ GORD (gastro oesophagul reflux disease) for around 3-4 months and following a routine endoscopy to check if anything was amiss (all clear) aside from several fundic gland polyps (FGPs) - which the clinician explained, in their opinion they regularly saw in patients on PPI medication presenting with polyps!

Are these polyps always benign as we read or do some of these polyps then go on to cause stomach cancer? I was able to cure my GERD without further PPI medication & stopped immediately (further info on how to resolve GERD/ GORD on another post!)

The purpose of me posting this is to try and capture more information about these polyps that are formed, numbers of people affected and if any have unfortunately gone on to cause cancer - so that we can at least start to collate some stats and make them available publically & if there is a correlation between say FGPs and stomach cancer, to avoid anyone else suffering the same.
